Overheating repair FAQs
Why is my PC so loud all of a sudden?
Almost always dust-clogged fans or dried-out thermal paste forcing the fans to run at full speed to cope. Both are routine fixes — and both get worse the longer they’re left.
Can overheating damage my PC permanently?
Yes — sustained heat degrades CPUs, GPUs, drives and capacitors. Early signs are loud fans and slowdowns; later signs are crashes and failed components. A clean and repaste costs far less than the hardware it saves.
How often should thermal paste be replaced?
Typically every 2–4 years depending on the machine and use. Gaming PCs and laptops run hotter and benefit from more frequent checks — especially if they’ve never been opened.
Is a laptop overheating fix different from a PC?
The principles are the same — dust removal, paste replacement, fan health — but laptops are far more compact and easier to damage. We’ve opened hundreds and know the fragile bits of every major brand.
